Our Commitments

Our commitment to a sustainable terminal operation.

Founded by the United Nations in 2015, the 17 SDGs (Sustainable Developmental Goals) provide a blueprint of peace and prosperity for the people and planet in the present and future. At its core, the 17 SDGs recognize that social causes such as ending poverty must go together with strategies that improve health, education, and spur economic growth – all while tackling climate change and working to preserve biodiversity, oceans, and forests.

Paris Climate Accord

Since 2018, the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, the first transit agency in the United States to embrace the goals established in the Paris Climate Accord, has sustained its efforts toward achieving the science-based targets of reducing their GHG emissions by 50% by 2030 and reaching net-zero by 2050. JFKIAT is committed to supporting and embracing the carbon reduction goals set forth in the Paris Accord.

To gain an in-depth understanding of and further improve our building’s performance with specific attention to our GHG emissions, a Strategic Energy Assessment was conducted in 2021. This assessment analyzed our energy use, GHG emissions, and the possibilities for capital and operational improvements. The findings in the assessment were extremely valuable in helping JFKIAT understand both our current and historical GHG emissions. JFKIAT is continuing to collaborate with subject matter experts to further work on the short- and long-term carbon reduction targets that are in line with the Port Authority’s targets.

Be Travel-Ready: Plan for a Stress-Free Trip to T4!

Due to construction at JFK, the roadways leading to Terminal 4 may be congested. We highly recommend that our guests allow themselves some extra time to reach the terminal and, whenever possible, use public transportation within the subway system through Howard Beach or LIRR at Jamaica, then use AirTrain JFK.

From there, your ride will be 10 or 15 minutes to the terminal.

Taxis and shared rides from T4 will operate from the Remote Ride App & Car Services Lot, accessible via a free shuttle bus in front of the Arrivals Hall running every 1-2 minutes. Please avoid going with anyone you have not pre-arranged a ride with.
